Sex Gang Childrean - Sebastiane

As legend says the first true "Goth" on the 80s music scene was Andrew Hayward, the founding member of London based band Sex Gang Children. It came from a nickname given Andrew by Ian Astbury, leader of another London rock group The Southern Death Cult. As Ian recalls, at this time Andrew lived in building located in Brixton called Visigoth Towers and dressed like a Banshee fan, so he started to call him the Gothic Goblin and his followers The Goths. Andrew "Andi SexGang" formed his Sex Gang Children alongside Dave Roberts (bass), Terry MacLeay (guitar) and Rob Stroud (drums) around 1981 - 1982. Although they were active in this original line-up til 1984 they achieved quite a cult status on London post punk or gothic rock scene. However they released only one full-length studio album "Song And Legend" (Illuminated Records, JAMS 666) and several EPs and singles from which the most interesting one is "Sebastiane" (Illuminated Records ILL 2212).
